We are looking for a Director of University Guidance Counsellor for an International School based in Shanghai. This is a full-time position starting in February/August 2025.

About the role

  • Oversee and manage a team of university guidance counsellors, ensuring high-quality support and guidance for students.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive university guidance strategies that align with the needs of students and their families.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops for counsellors to enhance their skills and knowledge in university admissions processes.
  • Foster relationships with universities and colleges to facilitate student placements and networking opportunities.
  • Assist students in developing personalized university application plans, including essay writing, interview preparation, and application submission.
  • Provide expert advice on visa processes and preparation for life after admission to ensure a smooth transition for students.
  • Evaluate and refine the university counselling program regularly based on student feedback and outcomes.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Counseling, Psychology, Education, or related field. Advanced degrees or certifications preferred
  • Experience in academic advising, college admissions, or high school counseling with a strong understanding of standardized tests and admissions criteria
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, and educators
  •  Excellent organizational and time-management skills, capable of handling multiple student cases efficiently
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to diverse student backgrounds, adept at guiding a diverse cohort through the admissions process

 

Salary and benefits

  • Monthly salary of 29,000 to 35,000 RMB commensurate with experience and qualifications
