We are looking for a Head of Physical Education Teacher for a Bilingual School based in Shenzhen. This is a full-time position starting in August 2025.

 

About the school

Bilingual school based in Shenzhen’s Nanshan district. It is the first K9 bilingual IB School established by an education group headquartered in Hong Kong. The school integrates two independent yet complementary educational philosophies. It offers immersive bilingual education - one teacher, one language. All students will be taught by two class teachers, one specializing in Mandarin Chinese and the other in English.

 

Job responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the Physical Education Department, ensuring a well-structured and progressive curriculum across all grade levels
  • Supervise and support PE teachers, providing mentorship, training, and professional development opportunities
  • Develop and implement long-term departmental goals in alignment with the IB philosophy and the school’s educational vision
  • Coordinate and expand the school’s athletic programs, developing partnerships with externa organizations for sports competitions and events
  • Manage the department’s budget, resources, and facility use to enhance the quality of PE instruction
  • Collaborate with school leadership and other department heads to integrate interdisciplinary learning opportunities
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the PE program, implementing improvements where necessary
  • Collaborate with Chinese PE teachers to ensure that fitness tests are conducted and recorded according to the requirements set by the educational bureau
  • Design and implement engaging PE lessons aligned with the IB curriculum that support students' physical, social, and emotional development.
  • Lead, manage, and continue to adapt the PE curriculum to meet the needs of all students.
  • Foster an inclusive and dynamic learning environment that promotes teamwork, sportsmanship, and a lifelong appreciation for physical activity.
  • Assess and monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments in accordance with IB guidelines.
  • Ensure student safety by enforcing school policies and implementing best practices in physical education instruction.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress, achievements, and areas for growth.
  • Promote Fitness and Wellbeing: Educate students about the importance of physical fitness, healthy habits, and sportsmanship through active engagement and positive reinforcement.
  • Support Extra-Curricular Activities: Assist in coordinating and managing after-school sports teams, fitness programs, and events such as Sports Day and House Day events, or field trips.
  • Ensure Safety Standards: Monitor and enforce safety rules and regulations during physical education classes and activities. Respond quickly and effectively to any accidents or injuries.
  • Work Collaboratively: Collaborate with teachers, coaches, and other school staff to support student development and create a cohesive physical education program.
  • School Sports Team: Coach and/or assist the head coach in planning and leading team practices and training sessions.

 

Job Requirements

  • At least Bachelor’s Degree
  • Past teaching experience in the relevant subject
  • Willingness or demonstrated track record in learning and practicing new pedagogy

 

Salary and benefits

  • Monthly Salary of 20,000 to 30,000 RMB after tax commensurate with experience and qualifications
  • 8,000 to 10,000 RMB Housing allowance
