Music Teacher

We are seeking a Music Teacher for an international school based in Kunshan, Jiangsu province. This is a full-time position starting ASAP.

About the role

The Music Teacher is tasked with instructing music as part of the school curriculum, adhering to the standards set by the IB and the school including teaching the theory and practice of general music, singing, and musical instrument skills They also prepare students for music exams and assist the school staff in enhancing and appreciating music instruction

Responsibilities

• Teaching various music styles
• Instructing in classical piano, both practical and theoretical
• Conducting singing lessons for students from beginners to advanced levels
• Integrating musical instruments and movement into lessons
• Developing and executing instructional programs and lesson plans
• Adapting the music curriculum to meet the diverse needs of individual students and the student body as a whole
• Preparing students for school concerts and planned musical experiences
• Offering opportunities for participation in music ensembles such as rock bands, choirs, and musicals
• Getting students ready for practicals and examinations
• Inspiring and encouraging students to participate in after-school music clubs
• Fostering relationships and mentoring students
• Keeping current with exam requirements
• Communicating with parents and school counselors about student progress
• Managing school-owned music materials, instruments, and equipment to prevent loss or damage
• Collaborating with the Head of School and staff to provide musical programs for school events such as assemblies, open houses, and parent meetings

Qualifications

• At least two years’ work experience as a music teacher
• At least a Bachelor’s degree in Music or Music Education
• Teacher license/certification would an advantage

Salary and benefits

• Monthly salary of 25,000 to 32,000 RMB commensurate with experience and qualifications
