Job Purpose:

To provide high quality teaching and learning of Art within the Art department; to assist the Head of Department with raising the profile of the subject throughout the school.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated Art curriculum
  • Be involved with other aspects of Art education in the school, such as organising appropriate educational trips and visits
  • Assist the Head of Department as required. This may include developing new work schemes, analysis of exam results or preparation of up to date set lists.
  • Encourage and support the use of ICT in lessons
  • Monitor class work and assessment grades and keep pupil achievement records
  • Write reports and enter assessment grades when required
  • Support and work with the Departmental team (including administrative support staff where appropriate)
  • Attend parents meetings and other school events as directed by the Headmaster
  • Offer at least one extra-curricular activity to the students in Malvern College Chengdu
  • Assist with any other duties, tasks or jobs as may be reasonably requested by the Headmaster or his Deputies

Person Specification:

  • Experience of working in a teaching position in this subject area for at least two years
  • Educated to degree level and hold qualified teacher status
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products
  • Clear and confident communication skills, able to liaise at all levels and with all members of the school community
