About the position

(Contract Start Date: Feb 2020)

A psychology teacher is required to lead students in the study of general history and theories of psychology. Psychology curriculum can cover a wide range of topics from cognition, biological bases of behavior to abnormal psychology. You can encourage students to look at multiple psychological aspects. Students should develop their appreciation of the subject by exploring the ways in which psychology is conducted. As part of their studies, learners also review important research; this provides an insight into the ways in which psychology has been applied, thereby leading to a better understanding of key themes and issues.

The key responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

• Teach students at various levels to learn Psychology. Be able to give a Native-English environment and guarantee the quality of education;
• Prepare lesson plans in advance that teach core objectives and principles that are relevant to future education, also showing students how this knowledge is useful in the real world;
• Be responsible for implementing the courses, assessment and reporting process;
• Contribute to curriculum, assessment and materials development;
• Track and report performance data to determine where changes need to be made and which strategies and methods are working;
• Attend staff meetings or program support activities as needed;
• Contribute to extra-curricular activities and events. Attend special events held by the school and engage with students and their parents in an appropriate, friendly way;
• Develop stable, solid relationships with students with appropriate boundaries so they know you are available to help them when they need it;
• Promote parent/teacher/student associations and encourage students and their guardians to get involved in the school.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or above, major in Psychology or related field;
• At least 2 years of experience in teaching Psychology in the curriculum in AP, IB or A-level;
• Native English speaker preferred; Certified teachers (AP Reader/IB certified teacher) are strongly preferred;
• High level of initiative and ability to work well in a team;
• Understand the difference of teaching systems and methods between Chinese and western and be willing to accept new teaching modes;
• Demonstrated cross-cultural awareness and understanding.
