We are looking for a Deputy Head of Primary School for an international school in Beijing. This is a full-time position starting in August 2025.

 

About the school

This is an international school located in Haidian. The school offers a combination of the national curriculum and US Common core to its students in elementary and middle school, and US Common core, AP, IGCSE and A-Level in high school. 


Job responsibilities

  • Serving as a liaison between the international teachers, Head teachers and Head of School
  • Line management of primary school staff to ensure the highest quality of instruction, communication and professionalism is being followed
  • Facilitating weekly Department Head meetings, including setting agendas and keeping minutes
  • Be an open, active and visible presence in classrooms, as well as in the playground, during sporting and enrichment programs, at special school events, etc
  • Promoting the health, safety and well-being of each of the School’s students and teachers
  • Working with the Head of School to develop, implement and manage the Primary curriculum and to ensure most students meet the curriculum standard requirements
  • Leading a team of Primary Homeroom, Bilingual, and Subject teachers, to include assigning roles and responsibilities, meetings and communication with teaching staff, performance management and providing guidance and leadership to the team
  • Collaborating with colleagues to ensure the effective implementation of the curriculum
  • Assisting the teachers and Head of School with student disciplinary matters.
  • Attending to student behavior, both positive and negative
  • Ensuring the highest level of student outcomes are achieved, including tracking individual student performance over time (Continuous assessment)
  • Meeting with students and parents as required
  • Assisting in the implementation of curriculum resources and textbooks, and ensuring that all available resources are used effectively to meet curriculum goals
  • Participating in class observation of teachers and providing appropriate support
  • Ensuring that appropriate arrangements are in place to cover for absent staff and that all substitutes have lesson plans
  • Initiating and participating in teachers’ professional development activities including orientation and training of new teachers and organizing staff workshop
  • Working with Head of School to identify the teachers’ needs and planning professional development activities accordingly

Job requirements

  • Bachelor degree or above in the related field
  • Teaching certificate
  • Three or more years management experience in international school
  • Knowledge of common core 
  • Excellent communications skills
